California attorney reflects on two decades of client advocacy, industry change, and more than $100 million recovered
SAN DIEGO, CA / ACCESS Newswire / June 29, 2026 / David Achord, a California attorney with more than 20 years of legal experience, is marking a major professional milestone: more than two decades in legal practice and over $100 million recovered for clients.
Achord’s career has been shaped by preparation, persistence, and a direct approach to client service. Since entering the legal field, he has worked through major changes in the industry, from shifts in client expectations to the growing role of technology in legal operations.
“Law has changed a lot over the past 20 years,” said Achord. “Clients expect more communication, faster answers, and a clearer understanding of the process. That is a good thing. It pushes attorneys to be more organized, more responsive, and more accountable.”
Achord graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Law and passed the California Bar Examination on his first attempt. At the time, UC Davis ranked first in California for bar passage rate, outperforming other law schools across the state.
That early experience helped shape his view of the profession.
“Preparation matters,” Achord said. “That was true when I was studying for the bar, and it is still true in practice. You cannot control every outcome, but you can control how prepared you are.”
Over the years, Achord has seen the legal industry become more complex and more technology-driven. Clients now have access to more information than ever before, but they also need help understanding what applies to their specific situation.
According to Achord, one of the most important lessons from his career is the value of clear communication.
“People come to an attorney during stressful moments,” he said. “They need direct answers. They need to understand what is happening and why. A big part of the job is helping people make informed decisions.”
The milestone also reflects the long-term trust Achord has built with clients and referral sources. With more than $100 million recovered during his career, he views the achievement as the result of steady work over time rather than one defining moment.
“There is no shortcut to building a legal career,” Achord said. “It comes down to showing up, doing the work, and staying consistent.”
As the legal field continues to evolve, Achord remains focused on practical service, strong preparation, and adapting to new tools and client needs. He also continues to develop philanthropic initiatives, including Shoes for Kids and Water for Life, both focused on helping underserved communities.
Looking ahead, Achord plans to continue serving clients while expanding his charitable work and staying engaged with changes affecting law, business, and technology.
“After 20 years, I still believe there is always more to learn,” he said. “The legal profession keeps changing, and that keeps the work meaningful.”
